The LanExpert is the Swiss army knife for network engineers. It
combines all the essential testing functions for an Ethernet net-
work in a single user-friendly handset. With its two gigabit-Ether-
net ports, the LanExpert can either be connected to two indivi-
dual ports, or patched into a network link. The LanExpert’s many
test capabilities range from simple connection and ping tests to
complete connection monitoring with statistical analysis. Its built-
in expert function analyzes the data traffic and indicates possi-
ble faults. This simplifies trouble-shooting significantly. In addition
to passive network analysis, the LanExpert can also be used to
perform specific stress tests on the network. The LanExpert tests
the performance capabilities of whole network segments and
WLAN links using standardized stress tests in accordance with
RFC 2544.
The LanExpert is available in two versions:
• LanExpert 80 has two RJ45 ports with additional
cable and PoE tests.
• LanExpert 85 has two SFP ports for use with either
copper or fiber optic SFPs (multimode or single mode)
